چکیده

Fimbrial adhesion is a Virulence Determinant which is classified under Adhesins category of virulence factor of uropathogenic Escherichia coli. Afimbrial adhesin Protein with swissprot accession number P12730, of length 181 amino was selected for modeling using Bioinformatics tools. Modelled protein has been submitted to protein model database and has been assigned an accession number of PM0075877. Docking analysis of Epicatechin(4beta-8,2beta-0-7), a Proanthocyanin from cranberry against modelled fimbrial adhesion was carried out using hex docking tool. Some of the commonly used antibiotics to treat urinary tract infections caused by Uropathogenic E.coli which includes Oflaxacin, sulfamethoxazole, Trimethoprim were subjected to docking analysis for comparative studies.

Afa, a diffuse adherence fibrillar adhesin associated with enteropathogenic Escherichia coli.

O55 is one of the most frequent enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) O serogroups implicated in infantile diarrhea in developing countries. Multilocus enzyme electrophoresis analysis showed that this serogroup includes two major electrophoretic types (ET), designated ET1 and ET5. ET1 corresponds to typical EPEC, whilst ET5 comprises strains with different combinations of virulence genes, in...

Detection of pap, sfa, afa, foc, and fim Adhesin-Encoding Operons in Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Isolates Collected From Patients With Urinary Tract Infection

BACKGROUND Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) with its virulence factors is the most prevalent cause of urinary tract infection (UTI). OBJECTIVES This study aimed to determine the occurrence of fim, pap, sfa, and afa genes among 100 UPEC isolates collected from patients diagnosed with UTI. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 100 UPEC isolates were obtained from urine samples of patients wit...

Detection of fim, pap, sfa and afa Adhesin-Encoding Operons in Escherichia coli Strains Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections

ABSTRACT              Background and objectives: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common infectious diseases caused by bacteria. The primary etiologic agent of UTIs is Escherichia coli. Uropathogenic E.coli (UPEC) strains have a number of specific virulence factors, which can worsen UTIs. This study was performed to...

Distribution of uropathogenic virulence factors among Escherichia coli strains isolated from dogs and cats.

A variety of virulence factors (VFs) such as type 1 fimbriae, pilus associated with pyelonephritis, S fimbriae, afimbrial adhesin, alpha-hemolysin, aerobactin and cytotoxic necrotizing factor 1 are associated with uropathogenic Escherichia coli. In this study, 80 uropathogenic E. coli strains in 50 dogs and 30 cats suffering from UTI. In addition, 60 E. coli strains were isolated from fecal sam...
